Neurofeedback

Do you suffer from anxiety, depression, or insomnia? Have you experienced traumatic experiences in your life? Do you deal with regular headaches or migraines? Do you have difficulty with focus and concentration? If so, neurofeedback might be able to help.

Neurofeedback is a type of biofeedback, which is a method of gaining information by monitoring a person’s blood pressure, skin temperature, brain waves, and heart rate to help promote control over what are usually involuntary processes. No matter the type of biofeedback involved, it will use some type of monitoring device along with electronic sensors to share data about what is going on in the body.

With neurofeedback, special sensors offer information about specific brain waves to determine if they are working harmoniously or if there is dysregulation. Think of dysregulation as an orchestra that is tuning up before a performance. No one is playing with one another, instead, there is a cacophony of noise that doesn’t sound very pleasant.

Thanks to advances in technology, we can get accurate information about how parts of our brain are working and provide real-time feedback to help the brain autocorrect.

How does neurofeedback help?

By giving the brain real-time feedback about what it is doing electrically, it is able to make necessary adjustments to how it is functioning. The brain seems to have an inherent ability to improve regulation when given this information which can benefit various conditions and symptoms including:

  • Concussion symptoms
  • Anxiety
  • ADHD
  • Depression
  • Sleep problems
  • PTSD
  • Headaches and migraine

People often get stuck in rigid brain states which which can cause significant difficulties with how they function. Neurofeedback helps the brain to shift states more effortlessly
