Roshni Vedamanikam, Registered Clinical Counsellor in Langley, BC

I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master’s in Counselling from Trinity Western University and a Master’s of Social Work from UBC. I’ve been an RCC since 2003, and I see clients online across BC through Vista Counselling.

Much of my early career was spent with women and children who had experienced family violence. That work taught me two things I still carry into every session: that, even in the middle of a hard season, people are far more resilient than they feel, and that the right support at the right time changes what’s possible. It’s a large part of why I do this.

Today I support individuals, couples, and families through a range of emotional, relational, and life challenges, including anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, boundaries, attachment and parenting struggles, identity and self-worth, relationship concerns, and communication difficulties. I also work with couples and offer marriage therapy to help strengthen connection, improve communication, and navigate conflict. And I support people through significant life changes and loss, such as a new role, an empty house, a diagnosis, grief, or other unexpected changes that can affect a person’s sense of self and well-being.

“I believe in the inherent worth of every individual and our innate desire to become our best selves.”

Everyone’s starting point is different. Some people are trying to get back to a steadiness they once had; many are discovering their own resilience for the first time. Either way, I don’t work from a single method. Depending on what brings you in and how you tend to process things, I draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative therapy, Gestalt and Emotionally Focused approaches, the Satir model, and a person-centred stance that runs underneath all of it. With couples, I draw on Gottman and Emotionally Focused principles. For trauma, I’ve completed Level 1 training in Observed & Experiential Integration (OEI), a gentle, body-aware approach developed here in BC that helps people process traumatic memories without having to talk through every detail. In practice these overlap, and we’ll work out together what fits you.

If you’re new to counselling, the first session is mostly about getting to know what you’re dealing with and what’s been going on for you. Nothing has to be figured out beforehand. From there we agree on what you want to be different and how we’ll get there, and we check in on that as we go.

When I’m not with clients, I’m probably working on a puzzle, baking bread with my sons, or watching historical documentaries with them.

To book a session with me, or to ask something first, get in touch and we’ll find a time.
